Time for the TRUTH About Vaping

For those who we have met and interacted with among members and prospective members of the Arizona Legislature this month,  we’d like to say thank you for having an open mind and sharing your thoughts about the future of vaping in Arizona.

ASFA will continue to be the authoritative voice for the Vape Industry in our state and the source for truth in a sea of bad information. What’s on the line for our state is staggering, which is not widely reported. For example, independent vape shops in Arizona include 550 small businesses, thousands of employees and $81 Million annually in tax revenue for the state.

Despite that, Big Tobacco and their lobby will return to Arizona once again in January of 2025 with more legislation designed to destroy this industry, just as they are using the same deceptive tactics in other states.

We are committed to defending vaping in Arizona, but we cannot do this on our own. That's where you come in, as one of the esteemed members of the legislature. Your decisions in 2025 and years into the future carry the power to allow our business to continue to flourish and contribute to the financial health of Arizona.

We ask you to consider these facts, taken straight from studies about vaping that you probably will not hear anywhere else:

  • Vape use by high school students has been cut in half since 2018 based on the most recent stats.

  • Flavored vapes are not the main influence on adolescent vape users. Peer pressure was a factor 9x more often than flavors.

  • Cigarette smokers switching to vape has saved nearly $40 Billion in estimated health care costs.

  • Zero premature deaths nationwide have been attributed to vaping, while 480,000 have been attributed to cigarette smoking.

After reading these talking points, with their sources, do you start to get the feeling that everything you’ve heard about vaping is a lie?

There’s a reason for that and it’s because the switch to vaping for previous smokers is a bigger threat to Big Tobacco than class action lawsuits have been in the past.

Only Big Tobacco has been awarded PMTA (Premarket Tobacco Product Applications) and FDA will not consider others, which is clear favoritism of their products over independent vape distributor products. This is a sign that regulatory capture is the sole determining factor in which products are approved, not the merits or safety record.
